Commissions and fees
How InfluTo computes a creator's commission and the 10% platform fee, when commission is earned or reversed, the currency, and how rate changes apply.
You pay InfluTo nothing per month. For every purchase a creator brings you, you pay the creator's commission plus InfluTo's 10% platform fee, both calculated on the price of that purchase in US dollars. The amount is reserved from your prepaid wallet when the purchase is verified and paid to the creator in the next monthly payout.
How a commission is calculated
commission = price in USD × commission rate (rounded to the cent)
platform fee = price in USD × 10% (rounded to the cent)
you pay = commission + platform feeA $9.99 monthly subscription on a campaign paying 30%:
| Amount | |
|---|---|
| Creator commission: $9.99 × 30% = $2.997 | $3.00 |
| Platform fee: $9.99 × 10% = $0.999 | $1.00 |
| Reserved from your wallet | $4.00 |
| Yours (before the store's fee) | $5.99 |
Every renewal repeats the same calculation. Two more examples:
| Purchase | Rate | Commission | Fee | You pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $49.99 yearly subscription | 25% | $12.50 | $5.00 | $17.50 |
| $4.99 weekly subscription | 40% | $2.00 | $0.50 | $2.50 |
The rate is set per campaign as a percentage (see Create a campaign).
The platform fee
- 10% of the purchase price in USD, on each payment that earns a commission: first payments, renewals and one-time purchases.
- No fee on purchases that no creator brought in. Organic sales cost you nothing.
- No fee when the commission is $0 — a 0% campaign used only for tracking, or a creator on a 0% custom rate whom you pay outside InfluTo.
- No monthly or setup fee. The only other money involved is your wallet balance, which stays yours until creators earn it.
When commission is earned
| What happens | Commission |
|---|---|
| A free trial starts | Nothing yet |
| The trial converts, or the user buys without a trial | Yes |
| Each subscription renewal | Yes, at the rate locked when the user was acquired — unless the campaign pays on First purchase only |
| A one-time in-app purchase | Yes, once per purchase |
| A refund or chargeback | The commission for that payment is reversed |
| A sandbox, TestFlight or other test purchase | Never — tests don't touch money or stats |
| A purchase with no creator attached | Nothing, and no fee |
Purchases count only after InfluTo has verified them with the store, through RevenueCat or store-direct.
The first creator keeps the user
Once a creator brings in a user — with a trial or a first payment — that user's later purchases and renewals stay with that creator, even if the person types another creator's code later. A code entered after someone's first purchase doesn't change who earns. How users are matched to creators in the first place is on Attribution.
Refunds and chargebacks
When the store reports a refund or chargeback, InfluTo reverses exactly what that payment credited — at the rate it was credited at, never the current one.
- Not yet paid out: the commission is removed from the creator's pending earnings and is never paid.
- Already paid out: the commission is deducted from the creator's next payout.
Which refunds are detected automatically:
- RevenueCat apps: refunds arrive as RevenueCat
REFUNDevents. - Store-direct apps: refunds of subscriptions and one-time purchases are reversed automatically on both stores (InfluTo checks with Apple and Google).
Currency
Commissions and fees are always calculated in US dollars, whatever currency the user paid in.
- RevenueCat apps: InfluTo uses the USD price RevenueCat reports with each event.
- Store-direct apps: InfluTo converts the local price to USD at the exchange rate of the purchase date. A renewal three months later uses that later day's rate.
Wallet top-ups and creator payouts are in USD.
Changing the commission rate
Change the rate on the campaign page in Campaign Settings → Commission Percentage, then Save Settings.
- Increases apply immediately. Creators on the campaign are emailed, and users acquired from then on earn the new rate. Applying them at once means nobody promoting during a notice period gets locked in at the lower rate.
- Decreases are scheduled with 7 days' notice. Creators are emailed when you schedule it. The new rate applies at the first hourly tick after the 7 days are up, and the campaign page shows "Scheduled: …% from …" until then.
- To cancel a scheduled decrease, click Cancel change on the campaign page, or enter the current rate again. Entering a different rate replaces the scheduled one.
- Every change is recorded: who asked for it, the old and new rate, when it was requested and when it applied.
- The same rules apply to changes made through the API and AI agents. There is no way to lower a rate without notice.
Existing subscribers keep their rate
A subscriber's terms lock when they are acquired — the rate and whether the campaign pays on every payment or the first purchase only. Renewals keep the locked terms, one-time purchases use the rate in force at the time, and refunds reverse exactly what was credited. Nothing is recalculated afterwards, in either direction.
Jan 1 Campaign at 30%
Jan 15 User A subscribes → locked at 30%
Feb 1 You lower the rate to 25% → applies Feb 8 after 7 days' notice
Feb 15 User B subscribes → locked at 25%
March Both renew → A earns 30%, B earns 25%Per-creator rates
You can give one creator a different rate from the rest of the campaign when you invite them. Today this is done through an AI agent: influto_invite_creator or influto_invite_creators_batch with custom_commission_percentage. The dashboard's invite form doesn't have this field yet.
- The custom rate replaces the campaign rate for that creator and follows the same lock-at-acquisition rule.
- Changing the campaign rate later doesn't change a creator's custom rate.
- A custom rate of 0 means you pay that creator outside InfluTo, and no platform fee is charged on their sales.

Milestone bonuses
On top of commission, a campaign can pay up to five one-time bonuses for reaching a number of installs, trials or paid subscriptions — for example $40 for a creator's first 10 installs. Approved bonuses are paid from your wallet in the next monthly payout run. Rules and review: Milestone bonuses.
